We work closely with the organisations from which we in-license IP. We recognise that inventors can add substantial further value to each program and often want to stay close to the project as it progresses towards the clinic.
While we may in-license single projects from any given institution, we also seek to establish close working relationships with our partners, covering a variety of projects in different therapeutic areas. This allows us to source projects at an earlier stage of disclosure and gives the inventors the benefit of our expert opinion on the development of the program, often months before the licensing agreement is executed.
Our partnership with the University of Manchester is an example of this type of relationship. Here, we work closely with the University’s technology transfer company to identify and assess drug related investment opportunities arising from research carried out across the University. We provide investment for suitable opportunities and also take on responsibility for the development and commercialisation of selected IP assets. Modern Biosciences then enters into revenue sharing agreements with the University and the relevant academic research group around successful programs.
